We All Need to Stop Panicking Ourselves Into Stress Balls
And, why I’ve begun limiting my time reading news
I’ve never been very good at moderation. I love to obsess over fun things until they are no longer fun and obsess over stressful things until I’m a wound up ball on the floor, crying. Blame my anxiety, blame social media, blame society, but stressed out is my normal.
And, then this pandemic hit.
Still feeling somewhat normal in the beginning I rolled my eyes at toilet paper hoarders (still rolling them) and people freaking out. Some were overrreacting (ahem. 4 Costco packs of toilet paper is never needed and if it is you need to seek medical attention immediately), all were just scared. But, stressing out and panicking isn’t going to help anyone. If you hit a patch of ice while driving in the winter, does it save you to throw up your hands and scream, slamming on the breaks? No. Staying alert and paying attention to the damn road will. And, never slamming on your brakes.
While my mind sickeningly yearns for stress, I know it isn’t good for me and I know sending myself into panic mode will do nothing. But, then, you read an article here and read an article there and sooner or later you believe the world is ending. For some, it is. The world is in absolute turmoil, and it wasn’t looking too good before this pandemic hit…
