To Sell or Not to Sell: My Inner Turmoil with my Wedding Dress

Who knew I’d have such an attachment to some fabric.

For a lot of women, the wedding dress is THE most important dress she will ever wear in her life. There are entire shows on this, proving that it may be harder to find the perfect dress than the perfect man. Or, at least, her perfect man.

Thousands of dollars upon tens of thousands of dollars are spent on one dress, accessories, the beloved veil. Pounds are shed and food ignored to fit into one dress that you’ll, most likely, never fit again. We put so much pressure on ourselves to look absolutely breathtakingly perfect on this one day, it’s mind blowing.

We plead and beg our parents to open the budget a little more for that must-have gown. We save to get the designer we want. We go into debt to purchase something we will never wear again.

And, you know what? Maybe it’s not worth it. At least, not worth the stress. I love my wedding photos (at least some of them), but I love photos of us laughing on a trip or relaxing at the cabin more. Because it’s just us, doing what we always do. I absolutely love my dress and couldn’t wait to put it on, careful not to get any bronzer on the perfectly clean and so incredibly white dress. I didn’t understand (and still don’t) why women…
