Time to go Au Naturel?

Are we — finally — leaving contouring in the past?

Ladies, put down the box dyes! We do not want to make the same mistakes we made in our early 20s, thinking that $12 spent at Shoppers Drug Mart will make us look like beauty queens.

While things are rocking like they used to, just with more sanitizing and more masks, and less patrons, people aren’t flocking to their regular habits like they used to. Hair salons opened up relatively early in my province because we fucking nailed it with social distancing (only to come tumbling down now with more cases than we’ve ever had), but they were still shuttered in Ontario long after I got a fresh cut and fixed my roots. Just search any news update with Justin Trudeau from before the middle of July and you can see that his hair resembles that of a grade 8 hockey player.

I made a hair appointment one month after our hair salon open dates, far too excited to let my roots get any thicker, proving to the world that I am not a natural blonde. My husband? He let his hair grow to lengths that made me cringe. Luckily, I was able to take the clippers to him one day at the cabin while he was relaxed enough to let me.

When I had made my appointment I figured I would go a little more natural, foregoing the purple and pink tones that I love to put in my hair every so…
