Those who Love the Country, yet Have no Respect for it

is it actually true love?

I get confused, sometimes. It’s okay, it happens to us all. This confusion, though, still has me baffled, even when an explanation is given.

I’m talking about many of those who live in the country, preach about living in the country, and would never set foot in a city.

I get it. I hate cities, too. I love the open air that living in the country gives you. The absolute stillness of a Sunday morning. Birds chirping, hawks hunting, deer moseying about. I love the animals that come into my yard, my excitement bubbling up as I try to figure out just what bird is sitting in my pond or a tree, or if the ducks there are the same ones as last year. I throw out birdseed, I mix in plants that are beneficial to the eco-system that is ever-growing and changing in my yard. I love sitting outside and watching butterflies and birds flit about, watching my cats chase grasshoppers.

I love it all. It’s the reason I moved outside of a city. It’s the reason I tell people how wonderful it is. It’s simply respect for nature.

Which makes it not-so-hilarious funny when some country folk get it all back-ass backwards and completely wrong. The ones who have no respect for animals other than their pets, taking the thought that every…
