Take a Moment to yourself

And just breathe.

Take a moment. Step outside onto your deck, front porch, or step. Sit by an open window. And, just breathe.

Take your coffee with you, your tea, or morning shake and just listen to the quiet of the world around you.

My favourite moments are early in the morning and late at night when everyone is too sleepy and the sound of the cars are quieted. The world seems so wonderful, so pure, and beautiful. The sounds are hushed and you can finally hear your own thoughts.

Your mind is still screaming at you even though you’re snuggled in a blanket with a hot coffee, feeling blessedly alone and safe in the peaceful moment. Let it scream while taking in your surroundings, of letting the soft patterings of morning or evening take you in.

The world starts to fade away as you sip your coffee and look out onto the trees or close your eyes and breathe in the crisp, morning air. The loud noises from your phone, the house, your thoughts are quieted. It’s just you, as a simple living being, feeling like you belong exactly where are you in this world.

Breathe deeply, ignoring any thoughts that come crashing in and just let the small noises around you come to the surface. The wind on the trees, rustling the branches and leaves. The chirping of small birds. The soft sound of cars faraway.

Drink your coffee, and listen. Give yourself a break from everything around you, allowing your body to relax. Allowing yourself this moment of respite to just be.
