christmas Is There a Point to Christmas Decorations During a Pandemic?
Spoiler: yes.
I love Christmas decorations. They make my house festive and exciting and I love showing off the latest way I’ve decorated my house. This year, though, I won’t be showing it off to anyone but myself and my husband. I had held out hope that people would smarten up and that we could still have our parents over (outdoors, safely) for a little bit of Christmas cheer. So far, it’s not looking like we will be getting together for the actual Christmas day. Which is fine. It’s just a day. We can celebrate Christmas in March if we really want to, though I think my tree will be dead by then.
Every year, after Halloween ends, I start decorating my house for the winter months. Don’t worry, no Christmas tree or Christmas decorations go up just yet, but the wintery wonderland starts. Pinecones and greenery are added to my home, extra candles are placed in just the right spots, the faux throws and pillows are happily strewn about my furniture, making my living room as cozy as possible. This year was no different, and out came the winter decor just days after Halloween. I felt like I needed a little boost with everything going on, and logs of birch and buckets of pinecones made me feel happy and warm.
