How I Cut Down on Junk Food for Good
And feel way, way better
Throughout most of my life I’ve suffered from migraines. From every so often episodic ones to living with 13-17 migraines a month, putting me in the chronic category. Now, I’m happy to say that they are back down to episodic, melting my brain 1-2 times a month, sometimes 0! A lot of this has to do with my preventative meds that have allowed me to breathe and see what has been triggering these monsters. More has to do with what I’ve been eating. Or not been.
When I was younger I never had to worry about what I ate; I would eat junk food and vegetables and fruits and cheese like nobody’s business and still be skinny. I’d eat Hot Rods like they were carrots, damn near euphoric from enjoyment in the salty treat. I was young, I had metabolism on my side and I was active. I never thought of food as something to be used as a tool to feel better, to nourish your body (hilarious, given that food is meant to bring nutrients to you), but as something to take away or add depending on your weight. Food, especially when I was growing up, was viewed as the enemy.
Yes, I understood the food groups and what they all meant. Yes, my mom made me eat vegetables and have healthier snacks like canned peaches or plums in the winter, fresh raspberries and cream in the warm summer months. I didn’t think about the…
