Been here before at the start of my freelancing career! Young, with not many bills (but still way more than $3 an article would pay) I took these jobs, thinking I'd need them to build a portfolio. Of course, it helps so I could take on 'bigger' jobs, that still paid me at minimum, or below. I worked for a spinner before, and I always wondered what kind of take home she was getting off of us. She would complain that she had to edit some of our work, which is hilarious as she was posing as an editor....as a freelancer off and on for years, I've now made myself rules to follow in that never take such low-paying jobs, anything that feels icky, is always icky.

They prey on those who actually want to become writers, knowing that they'll work for pennies just because they're published, ghostwriter or not.
